This year, the Ambacht in Beeld Festival is celebrating a special anniversary: the tenth edition takes place in the NDSM Loods. Since its inception in 2013, this event has grown into the national festival where young and old come together to experience the joy of making and the beauty of crafts. From diamond cutting to copper cutting, and from kimchi to batik; with over 100 master craftsmen from home and abroad, workshops, master classes, exhibitions, demonstrations, films and performances, the festival offers a unique opportunity to discover, try out and learn new skills.

What is unique about the festival is that we do not focus on selling products, but on the exchange of knowledge and skills. When you see a master at work, it sometimes seems easy. But precisely because people experience first-hand how challenging it is to make something with your hands during a workshop, they gain appreciation for the craft and discover that it takes years to master this profession. Moreover, they experience the pleasure of making it themselves.
