Within the program (Un)monumenting, three artists will present two art installations in the public space of NDSM that question the monumental character of the shipyard as a place: Slackwater by Holly Hendry and Sunset in Amsterdam by Mike Rijnierse and Ludmila Rodrigues

The exhibition LIGHT OUT is about the theme of burn-outs among young people in the Netherlands. With works by artist collective Touki Delphine, illustrator Mart Veldhuis, textile artist Alfhild Külper and the documentary Brandstof (with portraits by Roswitha de Boer), the exhibition combines visual and tactile art with audio and a 12 by 12 meter light installation to simulate the experience of burnout.

In IETS MET... PARADIJS, artists are challenged to shape the search for (over) life with mortality. In the first part of the exhibition, the artists explore their personal relationship with death. The second part shows a search for how life relates to this. The exhibition will open on November 1 with the 6th edition of The Night of the Dead.

During the day, the garden can be continuously viewed from outside through the special peepholes. Under Pressure by artists Catarina Garcia and Jim Du Pan is the winning entry of the NDSM Open Call 2023 and consists of a colossal steel ball that appears to rise above the shipyard. The base of the work is Kraan 7, a dilapidated, half-sawn crane that, in its heyday, carried pieces of steel from the warehouse to the slopes, where ships were assembled and restored. The sphere is illuminated from the inside and acts as a beacon for the environment, also visible from the water. The frame of the ball is wrapped in plants that move with the seasons.
