I BAPTIZE YOU…

The yard is alive again! It was first alive in the fifties as Europe’s largest shipyard. In 1922, the Dutch Shipbuilding Company NSM started building cargo and passenger ships here, because the former VOC Oostenburg-yard became too small. In 1946 the NSM merged with the Nederlandsche Dock Company (NDM) to build huge supertankers. You could hear sawing, drilling and hammering all over the place. Ships sledded from the slopes under loud cheering. Sometimes six a year. In 1984 the shipyard went bankrupt. Visit the digital NDSM Museum.
